CHIN SURGERY
Your chin surgery, also known as mentoplasty, is a surgical
procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an
implant or reduction surgery on the bone. Many times a plastic
surgeon may recommend chin surgery to a patient having nose
surgery in order to achieve facial proportion, as the size
of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of
the nose. Your chin surgery in Argentina will help provide
a harmonious balance to your facial features so that you feel
better about the way you look.
Post operation
After your chin surgery, you will experience some discomfort
and swelling in the affected area for several days.
It's normal to experience some temporary difficulty with
smiling and talking after chin implants. Black and blue marks
may be visible around the chin and neck.
Your plastic surgeon will instruct you about dental hygiene,
eating and any restrictions to your activities after surgery.
What is the time to recovery?
Make-up: May be worn after surgery.
oPresentable in public: You will be presentable in one to
two weeks.
Work: You may feel capable of returning within 2-5 days,
but your appearance will be the limiting factor.
Exercise: May be resumed in 2 weeks after your chin implants
in Argentina.
Final result: Will be seen between one and two months
What does Chin Implant surgery do?
It makes the chin more prominent. It is considered
beautiful when, seen from the side, the chin and the lower
lip are vertically aligned.
It balances the relationship between the chin and the
nose, as regards size and outline. This is why this surgery
is usually performed together with a rhinoplasty.
It can give the chin a more masculine or feminine look,
according to the standards of proportion and harmony prescribed
for each sex.
What does Chin Implant surgery NOT do?
It does not correct retrognathism (when the lower mandible
is retracted and causes chewing problems; this must be corrected
with orthodontics and/or orthognatic surgery).
It does not correct micrognathia (when the lower mandible
is too small and causes chewing problems; this must be corrected
with orthodontics and/or orthognatic surgery).
Even though it will make your face look more beautiful
and harmonious, and it will probably also improve your self-esteem,
it will not be enough to make you look perfect. We must be
realistic and accept that that kind of perfection does not
exist.
How is a Chin Implant surgery performed?
Anesthesia
Local anesthesia and complementary sedation, or general anesthesia.
Surgery length
Between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
What does chin implant surgery consist of?
The surgeon makes an internal pocket right in front of the
chin bone and inserts the implant. In order to do this, there
are two possible incisions: a) under the chin, b) inside the
lower lip, that is, inside the mouth.
Hospitalization
There is no need to be hospitalized, it is done on an outpatient
basis.
Results
The results of a chin implant surgery are permanent, but completely
reversible if you wish to look as you looked before the surgery.
However, very few people feel unhappy with the results.
Your profile will be much more harmonious and proportionate.
It is very likely that no one will realize that you have an
implant under your skin: you will simply look much better and
no one will be able to put the finger on what the difference
is.
